Pittsburgh Steelers coach reveal horrible news about key player….
Mike Tomlin must take responsibility for the terrible play of the Steelers against the Patriots.
The head coaches of the Pittsburgh Steelers are not fired. It’s not how they do it. Since 1968, they have not fired a coach.
Perhaps Mike Tomlin ought to feel grateful for that.
Although Tomlin’s career has been amazing, the Steelers’ last five games have been a complete disaster. The Steelers suffered home defeats to the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals inexplicably. This season, those teams have a 4-20 record against the rest of the NFL.
The first half was dull and the Steelers fell behind 21-3. Though Pittsburgh was unable to come back for a victory, the Patriots are a terrible team and were unable to shut out the Steelers.
The Patriots defeated the Steelers 21–18 on Thursday night, raising their record to 3–10. Like it has been for the most of the season, Pittsburgh’s offense was awful. Although the defense shut out the Patriots in the second half, it was unexpected that they scored 21 points in the first half. It demonstrated how unprepared and uninteresting the Steelers appeared.
Last Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers were 7-4 before kickoff. It appeared that everyone, even the Steelers themselves, realized they weren’t quite as good as that record. However, they didn’t appear to be a poor team.
The Steelers may not be as good as they seem after the last two games. Or, for a team in the AFC playoff race, oddly indifferent.
Tomlin is highly praised, and with good reason. It is also his fault that his team is disintegrating.
The Steelers’ carelessness was epitomized in one sequence. Pittsburgh sent Chukwuma Okorafor in as a sixth lineman during a second-down early in the second quarter, with the Steelers trailing 14-3, the crowd jeering the offense and some calling for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. Despite reporting as eligible, Okorafor misaligned his alignment and failed to cover the tackle. That player knew he would be in that particular personnel group, so it was an illegal formation penalty.
Pittsburgh was obviously not set in stone from the beginning. In the first quarter, the Steelers only possessed 36 yards. On a terrible Los Angeles Chargers defense this past Sunday, they gave up 115 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter to a team that finished with 257 yards and no points.
Then, Mitch Trubisky threw an interception to begin the second quarter. On third down, he was hit while throwing, making it a simple pick for safety Jabrill Peppers. Hunter Henry scored a touchdown on that, giving the Patriots a 14-3 advantage. Henry scored another touchdown a short while later, giving the Patriots a 21-3 lead. In their last three games combined, the Patriots had scored 13 points.
Trubisky missed a few passes that should have been intercepted and one that was called back because of a penalty. For the majority of the evening, there was nothing to like about the Steelers.
Following the Cardinals’ defeat, Tomlin claimed that the Steelers had played “JV football.”That must have made Pop Warner or the freshman team on Thursday night.
For the Steelers, there was still another pivotal moment in the third quarter. One big play, a deflected interception returned to the 16-yard line, was all they got. The offense still needed to move it sixteen yards as a result. Trubisky fumbled on third-and-nine. Though it was unlikely that he would make it all the way to the first-down line, he surrendered two yards short of the line before being tackled. For any quarterback in that situation, it is unacceptable to not give it their all to earn those yards. Jaylen Warren missed the first down, and Trubisky threw the ball off under duress on the fourth down.
The Steelers receivers were impressive to watch all throughout the game.Kirk Herbstreit, a broadcaster, called out George Pickens for not making an attempt to block on run plays. Pickens received criticism earlier in the season for being upset when his teammate, Diontae Johnson, scored the game’s winning touchdown and then went on social media to vent. Johnson occasionally expressed his annoyance. Earlier in the season, he came under fire for not making an attempt to block runs. Pickens also did, especially on fourth downs when he was not targeted.
The Steelers continued to play because the Patriots are a team that has earned its ten losses. Early in the fourth quarter, a blocked punt resulted in a quarterback sneak touchdown by Trubisky, and the 2-point conversion brought the Patriots’ lead to 21–18.
It made no difference. Following that, the Steelers’ offense was unable to enter Patriots territory on either of their two possessions. A Steelers punt play that was arguably offsides against the Patriots was given a dubious false start penalty. However, the Steelers were called for a punt. Then, on fourth-and-2, right before the two-minute warning, Trubisky made the strange decision to attempt an incomplete deep pass to Johnson at a low percentage. That was pretty much it for the game.
Even though the Steelers entered Week 14 in the playoffs, they played and behaved as though they were eager for the offseason to begin. If, as many in Pittsburgh suspected, that offseason arrives sooner than expected, it will not be good for the head coach.
