Report: Chicago Bears key player left for injury and he will not return…
Bears injury report: Teven Jenkins and Darnell Mooney out
When the Bears play the Cardinals on Christmas Eve, they might be missing three starters. Due to injuries, wide receiver Darnell Mooney (illness), defensive end/tackle DeMarcus Walker (leg), and left guard Even Jenkins (concussion) did not participate in any practice on Wednesday.
Sunday’s start for Cody Whitehair would probably take Jenkins’ place if he fails to clear the protocol. With Jenkins out due to a calf injury, Whitehair started the season as the starting left guard. Whitehair then took a brief turn playing center. However, Whitehair was benched following a string of poor snaps and has recently filled the role of reserve. In Week 15 against the Browns, Whitehair gave up three pressures in 31 attempts, according to PFF. Jenkins resisted all pressure in 14 chances.
The three players slated to take over for DJ Moore at wide receiver are Tyler Scott, Velus Jones, and Trent Taylor if Mooney isn’t good enough to play on Christmas Eve. Over the previous two weeks, the Bears frequently targeted Mooney, but they were unable to establish any consistency with him. Justin Fields has targeted Mooney 15 times in the past two games, but the two have only combined for four completions and 58 yards. Scott caught four balls on five targets for sixty yards during those same two games. Jones had one 11-yard catch on one target. Taylor wasn’t even the target. Equanimeous St. Brown, a seasoned receiver, is still out due to a pectoral injury that Eberflus described as a “week-to-week” problem.
Walker’s leg injury is keeping him sidelined, according to Eberflus, but it appears like he will be able to play against the Cardinal. Throughout the season, he has made steady improvement, and when Yannick Ngakoue sustained a season-ending broken ankle, he was back in the starting lineup. Walker recorded two TFLs and half a sack last week.
The absence of Travis Homer, Noah Sewell, and Jaylon Jones from Wednesday’s practice was also noted. This year, each man has mostly made an impact on special teams.

Jaylon Johnson strongly advises followers to continue the conversation about Justin Fields on social media.
Bears players are loyal to Justin Fields, if nothing else.
They witness his passion, growth, and leadership. They have faith in his ability to guide them to success after seeing his work and accomplishments on the field. Fields is viewed by them as the Bears’ franchise quarterback.
They become irate when they hear rumors that the Bears are considering trading him or drafting a different quarterback.
Jaylon Johnson stated to Parkins & Spiegel on 670 The Score, “We know, in a sense, what the talks are.” You guys can keep that on Twitter. As for taking it to the locker room, man, that’s fine. Post that on social media, please. However, please refrain from bringing that to our locker room where you could try to make up a story or project what you think of us.
The Cleveland Browns defeated the Bears in a heartbreaking fashion on Sunday. They gave up 13 points to the Browns in the fourth quarter, while on the final four drives, the offense punted, punted, punted, and intercepted.
Their confidence in Fields, who threw for one touchdown and two interceptions while completing less than 50% of his passes for 166 yards, hasn’t faltered though. They continue to think of him as the quarterback for the team.
Following the defeat, wide receiver Darnell Mooney declared, “Justin is the quarterback of the future.” “He is the quarterback for the team. He has been having fun. Why there are so many more questions is beyond me. Of course, Carolina currently gives us the [projected No. 1 pick], but Justin is a dog. He’ll be balling somewhere else if he’s not here. Though Justin is a dog, I’m not the one who makes those decisions. He’s going to the ball wherever he is if it’s not here.”
DJ Moore, a prominent wide receiver, has expressed his opinions about Fields before. Moore appeared surprised that Fields’ future was even a question when it was raised a few weeks ago. He doesn’t think of his time in Chicago as a one-year experience because he was brought here to forge a strong partnership with Fields.
Moore became defensive when the media in Cleveland brought up the topic.
Moore replied, “I don’t know,” when asked why Fields’ future in Chicago is being questioned. “Last week, you guys asked me that. Still thinking, “Bruh, where are all of you seeing this?” Why is he currently not the Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback?
“I understand that all of you are coming out. There are, what, two of them? [Caleb Williams and Drake Maye] aren’t superior to Justin, in my opinion.”
Fields has adopted a philosophic stance regarding the uncertainty surrounding his future. After the bye week, he declared that he would not allow football dictate his level of happiness. Since then, he has been trying to come to terms with his privileged status as the Bears’ quarterback.
However, the Bears are only more inclined to get along with him and support him because of his presence in the locker room.
Johnson stated, “We’re only going to gel closer together.” “All we’re going to do is protect him. All we’re going to do is bolster him. He’s our guy, so we’re only going to invest what we have in him. That man in the locker room is him. It’s him who writes the plays. He is the one who guides us. He is the one who shoulders all responsibilities.”
