Wide receiver Kyren Lacy of LSU is hoping to return in 2024 with a larger role.

Kyren Lacy, a wide receiver, will thus return for another season of eligibility next season by taking advantage of the NCAA’s COVID exception.

“Everything just sounded right when I sat down with all the coaches, including (LSU) coach Kelly,” Lacy remarked on Monday. “I just promised to return,” the speaker said.

Lacy has the chance to move up to the top of the Tigers depth chart as LSU is anticipated to lose both of its top two receivers, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., to the NFL Draft in ’24. This season, Lacy tied his career high of 24 receptions for 463 yards and seven touchdowns, matching his ’22 total. The last six games for the team saw him score five of his touchdowns.

Regarding his motivation for coming back, Lacy stated, “basically pick up where I left off, improve way more, be a leader, bring the younger guys up and be the leader that we need.” I’m confident in my ability to lead.

Regarding the bowl game, Lacy remarked, “That younger guy has worked really hard during the season and offseason. Following two years at UL-Lafayette, where he caught 50 passes for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns, Lacy transferred to LSU for the 2022 campaign. In 14 games, he made two starts and totaled 24 grabs for 268 yards.

In 11 games, Lacy caught at least one pass. In the SEC Championship Game, he showed off some huge plays, including three receptions for 43 yards against Georgia. The native of Thibodaux also caught a 45-yard pass against Purdue in the previous year’s Citrus Bowl.

His ’23 season got off to a wild start as he had three receptions in back-to-back games against Grambling and Florida State, then had zero receptions in victories over Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Lacy had four receptions for a career-high 111 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s 48-11 victory over Auburn. He also had another 100-yard performance in the team’s 56-14 victory over Georgia State, where he caught a season-high five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
