BREAKING NEWS:Baltimore Ravens QB enters transfer portal
QB Matt Schaub Signs 1-Year Contract With Ravens
In lieu of Tyrod Taylor, the Baltimore Ravens have identified a new backup quarterback. The team declared that Matt Schaub has signed a one-year contract.
Despite only throwing 10 passes in his first season with the Raiders, Schaub has a wealth of NFL starting experience, having made 90 starts, the most of which came with the Texans. Throughout his career, he has completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 130 touchdowns and 86 interceptions.
Keith Wenning, who the Ravens selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, is the other option available to them. Wenning is starting his second season in the league. When training camp arrives, Schaub and Wenning will battle for Flacco’s runner-up position.
Odell Beckham Jr. signs a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source
According to an NFL Media report by Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Ollie Beckham Jr., a former star player for the New York Giants, has agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $18 million with the Baltimore Ravens. After rupturing his ACL during the Los Angeles Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Beckham was forced to leave the NFL last year. According to Adam Schefter, Baltimore extended a contract offer to Beckham last week. Despite the doubts at quarterback, Beckham decided to sign on after giving it some thought. MVP Lamar Jackson, embroiled in an increasingly heated contract dispute, asked Baltimore for a trade.
Since high school, when he was a four-star recruit out of Isidore Newman in New Orleans in the 2011 class, Beckham has been an exceptional talent. He rejected Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Nebraska in favor of LSU. As a junior, Beckham made 59 receptions for 1,152 yards and eight touchdowns with the Tigers in 2013. In 2012, he also returned two punts for touchdowns.
Beckham was chosen by the Giants in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. His impact was immediate as he was named the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to the Pro Bowl with over 1,300 yards of receptions. After his second and third NFL seasons, Beckham was named to the second team of All-Pros; however, he lost his way on the field and in New York’s eyes.
Before the 2019 season, that resulted in a trade to the Cleveland Browns. But even though Baker Mayfield, the Browns’ quarterback at the time, played inconsistently, Beckham’s problems persisted.
After learning the offense in eight regular-season games, Beckham made 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns with the Rams at the end of 2021, looking a little bit better. In the Super Bowl, he also scored a touchdown against the Bengals.
“I don’t understand why everyone gets so upset; it seems like he wants the ball.” Really, though? I have never seen a great player not want the ball,” Monken remarked. “I’m not aware of any situation where a baseball player or basketball player refused to receive at-bats or shots. They are looking for chances to demonstrate their abilities, and that is what they want. It seems fantastic to me.”
