Nfl Report Good news for Parramatta Eels: He is back..

Former Eels players who might visit Parra again in light of Arthur’s major disclosure

The Parramatta Eels could miss the top eight just one year after winning the grand final, and coach Brad Arthur has bemoaned the players the team lost over the off-season.

The Eels lost to the Panthers in the 2022 championship game, and in the off-season, players including Reed Mahoney, Isaiah Papali’i, Oregon Kaufusi, and Marata Niukore joined other teams.

Arthur stated in a media statement on Tuesday that it was painful to see players the Eels had developed supporting other teams.

“You’re switching players and combinations. Many of the players that were part of our systems and structures for four or five years were familiar with our procedures. It takes time to bring in new players, according to Arthur.

“It’s just the truth; you posed the question; it’s not an excuse. Not all of them can be kept.

“We really wish we could have kept everyone. Penrith would have cherished having each person retained.

“Losing players that you invested a lot of time and development in and who now play for other teams while supporting other teams is not pleasant.

“This is what we have, but I would like a wish list. I’m pleased with our squad, but I still need to do better.

However, the NRL360 panel stated that Arthur and the Eels had no defense and drew attention to a significant issue with his analogy to the Panthers, rival team from western Sydney.

Paul Crawley of the Daily Telegraph commented, “Brad just said there that ‘Penrith lose players, we lose players, it evens up the competition’.”

“Well, Penrith is still leading, and the Eels will not make it to the championship game.

They lost Reed Mahoney, Niukore, Isaiah Papali’i, and Oregon Kaufusi, and they went from winning the championship to missing the eight. It’s not appropriate.

David Riccio, Crawley’s colleague, then disclosed that there are rumors that at least one well-known departure would return to the Eels, which would significantly strengthen Arthur’s roster.

“Isaiah Papali’i at the Wests Tigers heading back to Parramatta is just getting way too much attention,” Riccio remarked.

“Time will tell, and Benji Marshall’s capacity to calm the Wests Tigers early in the upcoming season will be crucial to that.”

Stefano Utoikamanu agrees. The front row player for the Wests Tigers has numerous exit clauses in his contract.

“Knowing the relationship Papali’i has back at Parramatta and keeping a close eye on that space, I’m not ruling out that he goes back.”

Papali’i signed a lucrative three-year contract with the Tigers, but after Michael Maguire was fired the previous season, he was placed on waivers.

It led to rumors that, before he finally packed everything for the merging club, he was thinking about making a U-turn.
