Hugh Freeze claims that his current offensive streak at Auburn is the best coach has ever had.
Freeze notes that although the Tigers have faced a run of challenging opponents, his offense is in a slump he has never experienced.
It looks like Auburn’s offense will rank among the weakest the Tigers have faced this century.
Currently, against Division I opponents, Philip Montgomery’s offense averages 4.88 yards per play. According to cfbstats.com, which has Auburn’s whole history up to 2009, that is the poorest mark ever recorded for the school.
Tiger supporters have not witnessed a worse offense in a very long time. It’s surprising because most people believed Auburn’s offenses under Bryan Harsin were their weakest aspects.
Hugh Freeze seemed to be at a loss for explanations on what he is witnessing on the field. He claims the Tigers are still “searching” for a solution.
Freeze was asked if he had ever seen a stretch like this for one of his offenses… ever, during Monday’s press conference.
“I think you can go look at my offensive stats everywhere I’ve been, and the answer is no,” Freeze stated. We’ve faced some excellent football teams, so never be afraid to challenge yourself by asking lots of questions. It’s partly our fault and partly theirs.
