Noah Brown, a wide receiver, will miss the remainder of the postseason for the Houston Texans.
The Houston Texans’ first-year campaign with Noah Brown is now over.
Brown’s season is coming to an end as the Texans place him on the injured reserve list. Brown spent six seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before agreeing to a one-year contract with Houston.
In the first quarter of Houston’s 45-14 wild-card round victory over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday at NRG Stadium, Brown sustained a shoulder injury. He did not play again..
On a third-and-9 play in the first series, quarterback C.J. Stroud attempted to find Brown in order to get the first down. After Brown and two Cleveland defenders collided, Cameron Johnston punted the ball.
Brown lay on the ground for a while before making his way back to the sidelines. He went inside the medical tent to be assessed more thoroughly.
Brown sustained a back injury in Week 17’s victory over the Tennessee Titans, which hampered him in practice before Houston’s playoff game. In Week 18, he did not play a play in the playoff victory against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Brown caught 33 passes for 567 yards and two scores in 10 games. In Week 9, he had his greatest performance against the Bengals, catching seven passes for 172 yards.
The Texans will need to use youngster Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie as their No. 3 receivers while Brown is sidelined for the duration of the postseason. Houston might also line up Dalton Schultz and Brevin Jordan opposite Robert Woods and Nico Collins in a double tight end configuration.
Jordan’s 76-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against the Browns was the longest touchdown in Texans playoff history. Along with Sammy Baugh, Dak Prescott, and Brock Purdy, Stroud became the fourth rookie quarterback in postseason history to throw for 200 yards or more and three touchdowns in a playoff game. With 16 completions out of 21 throws for 274 yards and three touchdowns, Stroud was the clear favorite to earn Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Since Mark Sanchez in 2009, Stroud is the first rookie quarterback to win a postseason game. In addition, he became the youngest passer to record a postseason victory since Michael Vick (22) did so in 2002.
“I’m grateful that I have another week with my teammates after such an amazing year,” Stroud remarked. “It feels like a dream realized.”
The Texans’ divisional round trip will be decided by the outcome of their playoff game on Monday. In the event that the Pittsburgh Steelers pull off the upset, Houston will play the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Rod Wright, a Houston native and assistant defensive line coach who previously coached defensive ends at the University of Miami, is a strong contender to succeed Cesaire.
Wright, a former seventh-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins, was a teammate of San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan during his time as a Longhorn. Wright was also an All-Big 12 and All-American selection at the University of Texas.

Wright was an all-American and all-district pick at Hastings after growing up in Houston.
Wright, a player for Mack Brown, was selected to the first team of the Big 12 and won the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year award.
Wright has served as a coach at Texas San Antonio, Sam Houston State, and East Carolina.
He was the defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator at UTSA.
He was a Bill Walsh Diversity coaching fellow for the 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. In addition, he worked at Texas as a defensive special assistant and student assistant.
