|Former Broncos guard Dalton Risner Signs with the Vikings
Even though the former Denver Broncos officially visited Minnesota on August 1, they began the 2023 season as a free agent.
Despite having a strong passing attack to start the season, the Vikings (0-2) have not been able to establish a ground game. Despite having the lowest number of rushing yards per game (34.5), Minnesota leads the NFL in total offense (371.5 yards per game).
With 337.0 passing yards per game through two weeks, the aerial attack is second in the NFL; however, Kirk Cousins has been sacked four times, and during one of those sacks, each of Tampa Bay and Philadelphia forced a fumble. There have been 14 quarterback hits combined by the Bucs (nine) and Eagles (five).
Kansas State product Risner (pronounced RISE-ner) was chosen by Denver in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he began every game and went on to start 62 games out of 66 possible from 2019 to 22.
The Vikings placed Olisaemeka Udoh on Injured Reserve to create space on the roster for Risner. When Udoh replaced Christian Darrisaw at left tackle in the Philadelphia game, he sustained a season-ending injury to his quadriceps tendon.
Report: QB Case Keenum signs with the Broncos after leaving the Vikings
It appears that the quarterback situation for the Denver Broncos has been resolved before the official start of free agency.
Case Keenum is reportedly leaving the Minnesota Vikings and plans to sign with the Broncos on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
