Mikel Arteta has vowed Arsenal will do all they can to support Kieran Tierney and get the Scotland star back to full fitness.

KT suffered a devastating blow at the Euros when he was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw with Switzerland after succumbing to a serious hamstring injury. After spending the season on loan with Real Sociedad, the injury has robbed Tierney of the chance of forcing his way back into Arteta’s plans during pre-season.

The 27-year-old’s days at the Emirates appear to be numbered but Tierney’s latest setback could hamper his hopes of earning a move elsewhere before next Friday’s transfer deadline. The ex-Celtic star has been undergoing rehabilitation at the Sobha Realty Training Centre and while fans have been speculating as to when he could return and what his future holds, Arteta has provided some clarity.

The Gunners boss was last week quizzed on the fitness of Tierney and crocked teammate Takehiro Tomiyasu and confirmed the duo will remain out for “a few weeks.” Arteta expanded further on Tierney’s situation amid speculation linking him with a summer exit by adding: “He needs to focus on recovering in the best possible way, it’s been a tough time for him again with the last injury. We have to try to support him and make sure he gets back fit.”

We told last week how Tierney was spotted making a rare appearance for the club as he posed for pictures and social media content ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League. Arsenal kicked off their title challenge in convincing fashion by overcoming Wolves 2-0 at the Emirates.
