Leeds United transfer news: Mateo Joseph exit ‘on the cards’ for January The Express
|Leeds United transfer news: Mateo Joseph exit ‘on the cards’ for January The Express, writing on their website (November 29), reports that the Whites could be prepared to bid farewell to a number of fringe players in the upcoming transfer window. Mateo Joseph, a striker, could leave the club in the January window in search of more regular first-team football. And Joseph, who has starred for the reserves this season, could look for a temporary exit to either a Championship club or a team in League One.
They stated, “Though he plays frequently for England U20s, Spanish-born forward Joseph isn’t bothering Leeds United’s first team.”
The 20-year-old has been practicing in the Yorkshire club’s youth ranks and has not yet made any senior appearances this season.
“But he’ll definitely fancy his chances of making an impact somewhere else, so it seems likely that he’ll leave in January, whether it’s to play in League One with another Championship club.”
One of the club’s best young players, Joseph has demonstrated his ability to put the ball in the back of the net when given the chance.
At the age of 20, he is in a position in his career where playing on a regular basis is crucial, and if he stays out of the game for an extended period of time, it could seriously impede his progress.
Given that Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, and Georginio Rutter are all above him in the standings, a loan move might be his best option as he has very little chance of earning a run of games at Elland Road.
A Championship loan might be ideal for him to help Leeds prepare for the upcoming season or help him step up, and it might also benefit Leeds if he scores goals against our rivals.
However, moving to League One would probably make more sense in this case, and Lincoln City—where Michael Skubala moved earlier this season—might be the ideal location. He’s previously referred to him as “fantastic,” so don’t be shocked if that comes up.
