Good news for Collingwood:he is back

It’s unclear if star Collingwood forward will play again this year.

Due to surgery on his problematic back, Collingwood forward AMIE Elliott is almost certain to miss the remainder of the season.

Elliott had a setback in his recuperation from a back injury, so he met with a specialist on Monday to figure out the best course of action.

The surgeon suggested surgery, which could keep him out of commission for up to six weeks.

This week, the darting forward is anticipated to have surgery.

Neil Balme, the Magpies football manager, told Collingwoodfc.com.au that “the good news is that [the surgery] will be more anatomical in nature and not particularly invasive which when you’re talking about back surgery, that is good news.”

“It’ll keep him out for about six weeks and then he should be fine to move on and we’ll see what happens from there.”

Elliott has been dealing with a crippling pars defect injury, but the Magpies haven’t given up hope that he might make a comeback later in the season.

However, considering that he hasn’t participated in a game during the team’s 2016 season, that seems improbable.

“It makes it a bit tough for him to have an impact this year but it’s certainly not out of the question as yet,”

A deformity of the lumbar vertebra in the spinal column, pars defect is also referred to as spondylolysis.

Two weeks ago, the small forward suffered another back injury during a training drill.

Elliott was initially benched by the Magpies in late February in order to give his back some time to heal.

By early April, Elliott had begun to make some progress because they had been patient with his return to training.

Elliott had a specific training schedule designed by Collingwood to carefully manage his workload, but because Elliott’s injury was spasmodic, the team never knew how he would react to increased training volume.

Elliott, the team’s top goal scorer the previous campaign, was noticeably missing from Collingwood’s offensive line in 2016.

Elliott finished the 2015 season with 35 majors.

In 72 games since making his debut in round nine of 2012, he has kicked 104 goals.

De Goey sends warning to comp with powerful performance

Craig McRae, the coach of Collingwood, believes that Jordan De Goey will be a better player when he returns from suspension.

After Mick Malthouse, the former Collingwood coach, famously made reference to a “slow ox,” Craig McRae has now gone into great detail regarding Jordan De Goey.

After observing considerable growth from the superstar, Collingwood coach Craig McRae is certain that Jordan De Goey will return a “better version of himself” following his three-week suspension.

De Goey got into trouble a year and a half ago when he traveled to Bali during the club’s bye. He was fined $25,000 and had to serve time away from the club.

It threatened his future at Collingwood; in fact, the club withdrew a contract offer before the former wild child tried his hardest to change his ways and embark on what he described this week as “creating a new path” for himself.

With the exception of the unfortunate bump that left West Coast rookie Elijah Hewett concussed and earned De Goey a three-match suspension that extended to a four-week break because it occurred during Collingwood’s bye, he hasn’t really stepped on the field this season.

This year, De Goey and his Collingwood teammates stayed out of trouble during the break, which allowed McRae to take his family on a trip.

De Goey was still training on Friday as part of the program he was given to fine-tune himself during his suspension, while McRae was speaking to the media and the rain continued to pour.

In a critical evaluation of the 27-year-old, McRae compared De Goey to a “dripping tap” and expressed excitement about the contributions he could make to Collingwood’s run for the championship.

McRae remarked, “We all stand here watching Jordy grow in front of our eyes.”

It can take a while for a puddle to form when your tap drips. He has been a dropping tap for some time now, and we are quite pleased with his personal development. We’re quite pleased with him.

“He is still in the field. When he missed a big game of football the last time, he went to work. Observe how diligently he is working. We are excited about that.

“He loses one thing; it’s obvious that we want to see him perform this weekend. However, he is leaving for work, and we are confident that he will return a better person.

De Goey will return to Collingwood for the match against the Western Bulldogs in round 17.
