At UCLA, Denzel Ward, Myles Garrett, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson are among the Browns who are idle for the second day in a row.

LOS ANGELES The Browns practiced at UCLA on Thursday in preparation for their game against the Rams on Sunday. Among the players idle for the second straight day were their starting quarterback and their two best defensive players.

Myles Garrett worked off the side again on Thursday, but he did so more than he did on Wednesday. On Sunday, during the 29-12 loss to the Broncos, Garrett sustained or aggravated a left shoulder injury.

To test his shoulder’s capacity, he performed pushups on an exercise ball and briefly assumed a four-point stance. After the game on Sunday, he said he would face the Rams unless his arm was falling off, even though he was wearing a sling and couldn’t lift it.

Additionally, defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz emphasized on Thursday that the Browns will accept whatever Garrett has to offer them if he can play, and Kevin Stefanski stated on Wednesday that he still expects him to play.

His toughness and his capacity to play through injuries are two things about him that may go unnoticed in the country. He’s going to put in a lot of effort to get back, and we’ll be ready for anything that comes up along the way. Thus, we’ll be ready. We’ll be ready if he is unable to attend. We’ll be ready if he can play each and every snap of the game. He feels a great deal of responsibility to be on the field even if he only has a small part in the game. That’s how he is wired. He’s eager to get outside. I am aware of this. He’ll be productive after he gets there, if there’s any chance he can.”

Cornerback Grant Delpit, the safety for the Browns, dubbed him the Incredible Hulk, while Greg Newsome II called him Superman.

“I was unaware that Myles could have a physical injury,” Delpit remarked. “He was in a car accident a year ago, but he got up and continued playing the following week. That guy is not like the others. However, he is currently taking care of any serious injuries. I’m not sure if he’ll spend this weekend outside. Although I hope he is, we have a lot of talented pass rushers if we need to reload. Our D line is outstanding. These people are skilled at what they do. It will be alright for us.”

If Thompson-Robinson was hoping to play the Rams on Thursday, he went in the wrong direction. Not only did he do nothing for the second day in a row, but he also did not work in the early portion of the session that was open to the media, unlike on Wednesday.

He was tested for concussions in the morning and spent practice inside the field house.

Van Pelt feels Thompson-Robinson made progress, but he will sit this one out while Joe Flacco gets started.

Every time he’s been out, he’s gotten better, he claimed. It was regrettable. I felt that Denver was a good place for us. We were beginning to gather some steam. That was regrettable, but I was quite impressed with his playing style. He demonstrated some toughness and made some plays with his arm and legs. Once more, I’m really pleased with his current level of development.

Thompson-Robinson is still in the protocol, so P.J. Walker will likely be Flacco’s backup.
