Just in:Ohio State Buckeyes sign Michigan Wolverines star player…

The best signs from Ohio State vs. Michigan at Big Noon Kickoff

There hasn’t been a home game for Wolverines supporters to voice their concerns since Jim Harbaugh was suspended by the Big Ten two weeks ago. This was in response to the ongoing NCAA investigation into claims that players from the Michigan football program stole illegal advanced scout signs.

Naturally, there was a large turnout for “Big Noon Kickoff” before the No. 3 Wolverines took on the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in a game that had both on- and off-field significance in Ann Arbor.

They naturally united behind the still-suspended Harbaugh. Naturally, they made fun of Ohio State coach Ryan Day, who is anxious to keep his team from losing three games in a row to “That Team Up North.” Naturally, they slammed Ohio State, its supporters, and its players—such as quarterback Kyle McCord—with every imaginable insult.

Charles Woodson, a FOX Sports anchor and a legend from Michigan, joined in on the fun!

Additionally, Wendy’s gave $500 to a lucky fan whose signs alluded to some apparent stereotypes of Buckeye fans for the last time this season.

The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State heats up as allegations of sign theft fuel “vitriol” on both sides.

Before a game, Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy takes some time to reflect on the field. It’s critical that he avoids distractions this week because of the sign-stealing scandal and the game against rival Ohio State (Nov. 21). Mike Householder and Larry Lage in an AP video

“Michigan residents believe Ohio State is responsible, but what evidence do they have? They don’t. Conversely, Ohio State is attempting to downplay Michigan’s accomplishments over the past two years by claiming that Michigan cheated, Woodson told AP. “As there always have been, there are just a lot of insults being thrown back and forth, and occasionally blows.”

It would be a stretch to say that any of the 118 meetings between Michigan and Ohio State have been the biggest or most important in the rivalry’s history.

“This week is not particularly significant. No big deal this month. It’s not a major match. Ohio State-Michigan this week was described as “a way of life” by former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer on the Big Ten Network.

Because of the legendary pasts of its rivals, the Game frequently has national championship implications, settles the Big Ten almost invariably, and is frequently replete with narratives.

In order to advance to the BCS championship game, No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan faced off in Ohio Stadium in 2006. Bo Schembechler, the legendary coach who personified Michigan football, passed away at the age of 77 the day before the game. With Schembechler’s passing, a timeless game became a memorial to one of the rivalry’s founding fathers.

Before retiring in 2014, Bruce Madej served as Michigan’s director of sports information for thirty-four years. The night before the game, Madej recalls rocks being thrown at Michigan buses and hotels in Columbus where the Wolverines would stay—hotels that all of a sudden had no running water.

He also recalled the respect Schembechler and Hayes held for each other, and how the former Buckeye coach Earle Bruce was offered an honorary SID position by Madej in 1987, the week before the Michigan game, after Bruce was fired by Ohio State.

“Hate is a word that I believe should never be used in sports,” Madej declared. “Do I want to see Michigan defeat Ohio State? Indeed, I do. Do I despise Ohio State? No.

The college football equivalent of Spygate has only served to heighten tensions ahead of their 119th meeting.

Former Ohio State linebacker Joshua Perry, who is currently an analyst for NBC Sports, said, “It’s allowed people to make accusations on either side that are probably unfair and unfounded.”

An in-person scouting and sign-stealing operation, purportedly run by a low-level Michigan staffer who has since resigned, is under investigation by the NCAA. With the ability to take swifter action than the NCAA, the Big Ten found that Michigan had broken its sportsmanship policy. As a result, head coach Jim Harbaugh was barred from the stadium for three games, including this one.

Former Michigan tight end Jake Butt, who now works for the Big Ten Network, said, “And a lot of people on both sides, Michigan fans included, have very strong opinions on things that, frankly, they really don’t understand.”

Michigan withdrew last week from its planned legal challenge to the Big Ten over Harbaugh’s suspension.Chris Partridge, the linebackers coach, was abruptly fired by the school the following day.

As his team attempts to win three straight against Ohio State, Harbaugh, the former Michigan quarterback who ultimately turned the tide on the rivalry after the Buckeyes’ half-century dominance, will be sidelined for the final game of his suspension on Saturday.

It’s unclear who specifically alerted the NCAA to a plot allegedly carried out by former recruiting analyst Connor Stalions.

This has caused rash conjecture, baseless gossip, and finger-pointing at Columbus. The internet is just plain mean.

According to Gary Marcinick, a former Ohio State football player from the mid-1980s and one of the founders of the Cohesion Foundation, which supports Buckeyes athletes, “there is definitely a level of vitriol this year and there is so much at stake.”

When Ohio State and Michigan faced off in what became known as the 10-year War in the 1970s, Woody and Bo were like brothers.

“We’ve been at odds and had arguments for years, but we’re still very close,” Hayes stated in 1986 to the Ohio State student newspaper.

There are no indications of a similar bond between Harbaugh and Ohio State coach Ryan Day.

“People who are standing on third base sometimes think they hit a triple,” Harbaugh remarked in 2021 following Michigan’s eight-game losing streak against Ohio State. The comment was directed at the coach who took over Meyer’s ready-made national championship contender.

When asked this week about the respect he receives from Day and his team, Harbaugh said it has no bearing on the game.

Day approached the same question in a comparable manner.

“We’ve just kind of stayed away from all the distractions we have and just focused on our team, and I think our guys have done a good job of it,” Day said in response to the current events.

Both Ohioans, Perry and Butt, have remained close friends after college and want to set an example for how rivals can still get along. They have been challenging the supporters of each school to compete with donations for a charity drive called The Game Gives Back, which benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs in Ohio and Michigan.

John Kolesar has spent his entire life immersed in the Michigan vs. Ohio State rivalry. In the 1950s, his father was a Michigan player. He was a mid-80s player for Michigan. And now Caden, his son, plays for the team.

He dismissed the rivalry’s current tense situation as the result of mainly irate people on social media and thought of another statement that had been attributed to Hayes, which he might or might not have said.

“Men, you’re going to need assistance at some point in your lives,” he says. And I want you to call your teammates when you do,” Kolesar remarked. “And if they don’t answer, give the Michigan player you are lining up against a call; he will.”
