Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals suffers a wrist injury during their loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
In the first quarter of the Baltimore Ravens’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, Mark Andrews suffered a serious ankle injury that will keep him out of the game for the rest of the season. Joe Burrow also appears to have sprained his wrist.
Just when it appeared that Joe Burrow had overcome the persistent calf issue that had been bothering him earlier in the season, he suffered yet another setback due to injury on Thursday night.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, who winged a four-yard touchdown pass to Joe Mixon, attempted a practice throw on the sideline moments before he injured his right wrist in the second quarter of his team’s 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He grimaced in pain.
Backup quarterback Jake Browning took Burrow’s place during the game and did not come back. Browning finished the day 11 of 17 with 101 yards and a touchdown.
“His wrist appears to have been sprained. On that touchdown pass, I felt it. I’m not sure. “I only have two seconds of information, and we went to try to win the game,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor stated.
With a calf injury sustained during training camp, Burrow had a difficult start to the season as the Bengals dropped three of their first four games.
In recent weeks, he has appeared to be back to full strength, leading Cincinnati to a four-game winning streak that included wins over the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.
After their loss on Thursday, the Bengals are now 5-5 and still behind their opponents in the AFC North, which is fiercely competitive.
“When you lose your starting quarterback, it’s disappointing,” Taylor said. It’s difficult. However, I thought that our guys continued fighting because they knew that we were still in the game. Once more, things just didn’t work out for us.
“Neither enough points were placed on the board nor enough strategies were developed to keep points off the board. However, I genuinely thought the guys maintained the proper attitude throughout the game. We simply failed to complete it.”

After a tackle by a Bengals linebacker on the game’s first drive, Andrews went down hurt and needed treatment on the field before being able to limp to the medical tent.
Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens, dropped his helmet in frustration upon seeing his most reliable target go down hurt. He eventually made his way to the X-ray room for additional evaluation and did not return.
