Mike Woods, a former wide receiver for the Arkansas Razorbacks, revealed on Twitter that he will be transferring to Oklahoma.

Woods now brings his big-play ability to work with Spencer Rattler in Riley’s offense, but he would have been among the most dynamic deep threats returning in the SEC in 2021.

If the 6-foot-1, 196-pound playmaker from Magnolia, Texas, chooses to use the extra year that the NCAA granted him during the pandemic, he will have two years left to remain eligible.

Woods leaves Arkansas as the 24th-leading receiver in program history, and some in the Razorback program found his decision to use the transfer portal to be a little surprising.

The former three-star wide receiver had actually just played in the Razorbacks’ spring game the previous weekend, hauling in two receptions for forty yards and a touchdown.

Following Charles Rambo’s transfer to Miami earlier in the offseason, Oklahoma now has more seasoned leadership in the wide receiver group. Riley pushed the position group to step up its game at the start of spring practice, despite the group appearing strong on paper. Woods will have lots of chances to compete and establish himself as a member of the team’s offensive unit.

As a Razorback, Woods has three career 100-yard games, the best of which came last season against LSU when he caught 140 yards on four catches. He caught two passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns at Florida the previous week. Six catches in a game is Woods’ career high, which he achieved twice—in 2019 at Ole Miss and in the previous season at Auburn.

In 2018, he participated in ten games with seven starts as a true freshman. His sophomore and junior seasons saw him start all 22 games, and in his final two years, he averaged 16 yards per reception.

Woods, a two-time 1,000-yard receiver in high school with an average of 19.3 yards per catch, was named Academic All-SEC as a freshman. He turned down offers from Vanderbilt, Washington State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Virginia, and other schools in favor of Arkansas.

The Browns’ action today provides some comfort that he is, in fact, their quarterback for the time being while he waits to be offered a second, more lucrative contract.
