Interesting Baltimore Ravens Contract Decisions for 2023: Jackson’s Issue Has Been Resolved, But DeCosta Still Has Five Important Contract Talks Left.

Throughout the 2023 season and the following off-season, the Baltimore Ravens will need to make some important contract decisions.

Eric DeCosta’s work is far from done, even though Lamar Jackson’s contract will be hailed as a success for the 2023 off-season. Some other significant upcoming contract decisions have been overshadowed by Jackson’s successful negotiation.

Right now, the Ravens are having issues with J.K. Dobbins. The star playmaker is demanding a raise in salary, but it seems like Baltimore isn’t interested right now.

Dobbins is yet another one of the running backs in the league who are undervalued. Jonathan Taylor, Saquon Barkley, and Dalvin Cook have all recently suffered from this as well.

Dobbins has the potential to be a transformative running back when well. Considering how much Baltimore’s offensive scheme relies on runs, he has an exceptional efficiency rate of about six yards per carry on average over his career.

DeCosta, though, has good reason to exercise caution. It is a fact that running backs have a very limited lifespan. Considering Dobbins’ past history of injuries, this is concerning.

It’s also important to note that Todd Monken’s arrival has already led to a minor change in leadership. To better fit Monken’s vision, DeCosta reorganized Baltimore’s receiving group this season. In the event that Monken believes Dobbins is not a good fit for his system, could Dobbins be shown the door?

It is not apparent to the national media how crucial Justin Madubuike is to the Ravens. The rookie defensive lineman had six sacks in his debut season and a PFF grade of 63.6.

As the main wide receiver for the Ravens, he created opportunities for other receivers while also producing some spectacular plays of his own.

Bateman is still concerned about the injuries. Can the talent, though, overcome these worries? The fifth-year option for Bateman will be worth more than $13 million. It rises to $18 million if he makes it to the Pro Bowl. For a player who has never gained more than 600 receiving yards in a season, both of these numbers appear high.
