Moments like Hill’s have increased the Bengals coaching staff’s confidence in the team’s defense going into the regular season, even though the team hasn’t really used many of its starters in the preseason.

At MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the Giants defeated the Bengals 25–22. The young playmakers on the Bengals’ defense kept the team in the game with a strong first half on a fantastic day for their second string defense, which started alongside Hill.

With three minutes remaining in the game, running back Jacques Patrick scored a 3-yard touchdown run to put the Bengals ahead. In addition to Hill’s outstanding play, defensive ends Joseph Ossai and Cam Sample, both in their second year, produced plays that turned drives against the Giants’ starting lineup.
