Good new for Alabama Crimson:he is back

QB Jalen Milroe is making his senior year return to Alabama.Quarterback for Alabama, Jalen Milroe, intends to return for his senior year after leading the Crimson Tide to an SEC title and a trip to the College Football Playoffs this year.

On Thursday, Milroe revealed the news on “The Next Round” program. Additionally, Quentin Milroe, his father, told ESPN that although his son is “focused on finishing this year,” he has informed his parents that he wants to play his senior year at Alabama.

With a business administration degree and a minor in entrepreneurship, Milroe will graduate on Saturday. He has only attended the university since January 2021, when he enrolled early as a freshman. Quentin and Lola Milroe, his parents, will be in Tuscaloosa for the commencement exercises. They have never missed an Alabama scrimmage or game featuring Jalen.

Quentin Milroe exclaimed, “We’re so happy and proud of him for staying focused.” “He set goals for himself, and I’m amazed at how he has managed it all.”

This season, Milroe—a redshirt sophomore who is still eligible—placed sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting. After throwing two interceptions in the Texas loss, he was benched in Week 3’s game against South Florida. However, he came back to the starting lineup and helped Alabama win 11 straight games. He scored 28 touchdowns and only gave up five turnovers in that run of play. The only other two Power 5 quarterbacks with 12 rushing touchdowns are Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel and Milroe, who both rank third in passer rating (177.5).

Last month, Alabama coach Nick Saban said of Milroe’s progress, “We wouldn’t be here without his transformation,” to ESPN.

On January 1, Alabama and Michigan will play in the Rose Bowl presented by Prudential, the site of the College Football Playoff semifinal.

USC quarterback Malachi Nelson reportedly logs onto the transfer portal.

The top-ranked recruit in the 2023 class, USC quarterback Malachi Nelson, informed the Trojans’ staff that he was going to the transfer portal, sources told ESPN on Sunday.

Following high school, Nelson committed to Oklahoma. However, on November 28, 2021, he decommitted from Oklahoma when coach Lincoln Riley left the Sooners to accept a similar position at USC. Nelson then changed his mind and decided to play for Riley instead of the Trojans.Nelson was also the top recruit in California, coming out of Los Alamitos, and the number one quarterback in the most recent recruiting class. In 2022, he won the national Gatorade player of the year award. As a senior in high school, he passed for 2,898 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

This past season, he sat behind starter Caleb Williams at USC after enrolling early. With just one appearance in the game—throwsing three times and completing one pass—he will be able to use his redshirt and finish his eligibility with four seasons left.

releasing Alabama is unexpectedly back on track under Jalen Milroe, and the College Football Playoff is in sight.
Although the Crimson Tide were predicted to fail in September, Nick Saban and his staff have discovered the formula for this team’s success.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama: Alabama is managing to put together a College Football Playoff run in some way. Roll that around in your head this fine early November football season. Here, timing is crucial because it was nearly two months ago that that statement would have been laughed at.

Texas came to Alabama during the second week of September and thoroughly embarrassed the Crimson Tide, especially quarterback Josh Allen. Because, well, it was bad, the offensive line was well on its way to becoming a bad punchline.

The defensive backfield that Nick Saban cherished was backpedaling a lot.

Even though there is still some of that—possibly a lot of it at times—the Alabama of September is redefining itself in November, and the regular season ends in three weeks.

Although not spectacular, the Tide’s victory over No. 14 LSU on Saturday night was convincing, coming in at 42–28.

Rather than being a speed bump that the Tide had to get over, a reborn Milroe turned into a weapon like nothing he had ever been. The defense, which started the game ranked third in the SEC, was always present, but it wasn’t particularly noteworthy in comparison to earlier defenses.

In a season without many stars, Nick Saban’s work as Alabama’s coach might be at its finest right now. The Tide have a better chance of winning a championship now than they did at this time in 2022, a year after an All-American, Will Anderson Jr., patrolled the edge and former Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young, was the quarterback.

Alabama's Jalen Milroe announces return for senior year

“The credit goes to the coaching staff and players,” said Saban.

All those responsible for turning this aircraft carrier around deserve praise. All we want is more information about it. During the regular season, Saban does not permit his assistants to speak with the media.

However, we’d be curious to know what impact Tommy Rees, the offensive coordinator, has had on his quarterback. Together, they are still developing. Rees is just thirty-one. Milroe continues to learn. It soon became clear that there would be no simple quarterback succession, making this one of Saban’s most difficult seasons.

We would be delighted to speak with defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, a 65-year-old war horse who has more SEC war stories committed to memory than his peers.

Nearly to the day a year ago, LSU defeated Alabama in overtime in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ending Alabama’s chances of making the playoffs. It would be Saban’s first season at Alabama without making the playoffs three years in a row, but nobody is considering that right now.

Alabama has a course to follow. Few people think that the Tide will fall short of Kentucky, Auburn, or Chattanooga in the final stretch, which would mean an SEC Championship Game score of probably 11-1.

Finally, Alabama has a quarterback. Milroe ran for 155 yards and four touchdowns, setting a school record for a quarterback. Collectively, the Tide ran for six touchdowns on the ground. Discovered is a clutch gene. The defense kept LSU scoreless on its final four possessions despite surrendering 28 points and occasionally allowing Jayden Daniels to run wild for the Tigers.

“This is probably as close to a complete game [as we’ve had],” Saban stated. “… We needed to play a game like that.”

Two months ago, Texas wasn’t even the worst of it. The week after Texas, Alabama’s two backup quarterbacks struggled to a 17-3 victory against South Florida, so Milroe was not on the field. Ever since, he has performed admirably, perhaps making the most strides in a victory over Tennessee two weeks ago.

This now. Wondering how Saban let the quarterback room to get so thin is one topic of discussion. It’s another to find out what steps the coaching staff has taken to turn Milroe into a strength.

“It’s obvious the guy is much more comfortable as a passer, hitting the right guy,” Saban stated. “We want to do our part to support him as he develops and grows. He used to get upset when he made a poor throw in the beginning of the season. He’s currently studying to perform the next play. The play that makes the difference in the game might be the one that comes next.”

After the game on Saturday night, Milroe held himself up with pride.

“Early in the season, Coach Saban said be a point guard with the football,” Milroe recalled. “Whether it is passing, handling the ball off or running with the ball in my hands — just doing everything possible to advance the ball.”

When Milroe tackled Tigers rookie defensive back Avien Toviano in the second quarter, he sent a message to LSU, the crowd, and his teammates.

Nick Saban: A look at the Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach

Center Seth McLaughlin said, “He’s not afraid to lower his shoulder.” He has no problem making people miss. It means the world to us when we witness a quarterback willing to risk his life for his team. It’s entertaining to watch, but I’d rather he juggle someone out.”

Though there is still much work to be done, take into account how the Tide finished 8-1 and unbeaten in the SEC West in the first week of November. With misdirected passes and well-planned runs, Milroe had the play of his life. With skill, he made short passes that resulted in long gains.

Perhaps the best game of an offensive line that had tied for the nation’s fifth-highest sack total was played. For a quarterback who occasionally still struggles to make his first read and coughs up too many passes, Milroe wasn’t too bad.

That Saturday night, there were no turnovers. Rather, Alabama made a 180-degree turn.

Regarding that defense, Dallas Turner, a linebacker for Alabama, might have made the game’s two most significant plays. The first was evident; he intercepted a Daniels pass at the LSU 25-yard line, setting up Terrion Arnold for an interception. In the fourth quarter, Bama had a two-score lead thanks to the subsequent touchdown.

That still didn’t seem like enough with thirteen minutes remaining. The teams had combined to score 400 yards and five touchdowns on 40 plays in a row earlier in the game. Daniels may have been the best player on the field up to that point. However, after that Alabama touchdown, he released the ball from his own 25 on first down. On a pass rush that drove Daniels to the ground, Turner caught him just under the chin.

Turner was called for a late personal foul on Daniels, but oddly, he did not receive a penalty for targeting. That was it for Daniels and LSU, as he left the game to go to the medical tent and follow concussion protocol.

With 301 total yards at halftime and 382 yards for the game, Daniels had a lot of flexibility in the short term, but the Heisman Trophy is now unlikely. Ask Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson, who suffered a broken ankle (or at least a sprained one) following a deke on an LSU quarterback run during the third-quarter action.

With the loss, LSU drops to 6-3 and is no longer eligible to compete in the SEC West. In the meantime, Georgia appears to be ready for Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, which is less than a month away. Or perhaps the opposite is true.

“I’m excited for this team because we’re not a finished product,” said Milroe. “I’m excited for what’s to come.”
