NBA report:I wish to return back to Golden State Warriors…

Andrew Wiggins returns to the Warriors and works on his fitness

Andrew Wiggins, a former All-Star swingman who hasn’t played since February 13, might make an appearance later this week.

After taking a lengthy break from the Warriors to care for his family, Andrew Wiggins, a forward for Golden State, feels ready to resume playing for the reigning NBA champions.

Wiggins has returned to the team and is gradually regaining his playing ability. Coach Steve Kerr stated on Tuesday that it won’t happen in the coming days.

With a shorter hairstyle that he claimed needed some tidying up, Wiggins flashed his trademark smile.

“My top priority is to provide my family with the love and attention they need when they’re in a difficult situation,” Wiggins remarked. “My family comes first in everything, including my career.” That is how it will always be. I thought I was in a secure enough place to return. Not quite settled, but at least everything is in a secure location from which I can return.

Wiggins expressed his gratitude to the Warriors for enabling him to support his family during a critical period. Wiggins said he is at ease returning to basketball and thanked everyone who honored his privacy.

Wiggins stated, “I’d rather keep that private,” in reference to the particulars of his family’s struggle.

He claimed he will need to regain some conditioning, but he was able to complete his regular exercises, which included lifting weights and shooting. The medical staff will have a say in determining when Wiggins is healthy enough to return to competitive play.

Wiggins, who hasn’t played since February 13 against Washington, was scheduled to miss his 23rd straight game on Tuesday night against Oklahoma City. Despite this, he stated he expects to play soon. Other than saying last week that he was still hopeful Wiggins would return before long, there have been no details disclosed about what Wiggins was dealing with or a timeline for his return.

Wiggins expressed his gratitude to Kerr and Warriors general manager Bob Myers for enabling him to conduct business without any hindrance or pressure related to the basketball aspect. Whenever he could, Wiggins watched games.

“I know it sounds obvious, but sometimes what gets lost in professional sports is that these athletes are people with lives and families,” Myers said. “However, working here, or at least the way we do it, allows you to get to know Andrew as a person rather than just as a 20-point scorer, so your first instinct is always to try to help someone you know or work with when they’re going through a difficult time. How are you doing? Do you require anything at all? Andrew needed to be away in this situation. We wanted to help him with whatever he needed.

With him, the Warriors will be ecstatic to contend with the competition for a Western Conference playoff spot and a chance to avoid the play-in round.

“Seeing Andrew today was a pleasure. For the past few months, we have missed him,” Kerr remarked. “…” Everyone adores Andrew, so it’s wonderful to have him back.

In the coming days, Kerr said he hopes to learn more about whether Wiggins will be able to play and, if so, for how many minutes.

Uncertain of Wiggins’ exact role at this point, Kerr stated, “There’s no way he’s playing in the next few days.”

In total, Wiggins has missed 43 games due to injuries. He has missed three more due to soreness in his left foot, ten from a strained adductor in his right thigh, and seven due to non-COVID illnesses.

In his 37 games this season, the 28-year-old Wiggins—who was named an All-Star for the first time last year and who in October inked a four-year contract extension—is averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
