When Green-Beckham graduated from Hillcrest (Mo.) High in 2012, he was the nation’s highest-rated recruit overall. This fall, he is scheduled to begin his junior season.
In an official statement, Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel stated, “It’s unfortunate, but it’s the right thing to do for our football program, for the athletic department, and also for Dorial.” “Dorial has not recently lived up to the high standards that come with being a Missouri Tiger. We have high expectations in this regard. It is an honor to represent Mizzou and our supporters, and we will collaborate with him throughout this process. This and other problems that have recently arisen have been disheartening. It’s annoying because we put a lot of effort into teaching our children discipline and responsibility.
Green-Beckham was a passenger in a Jeep when a pound of marijuana was discovered inside, which prompted a police investigation into him. According to court records, the Missouri receiver had been assisting law enforcement and had turned over a DNA sample and cellphone records in late January.Afterwards, it was discovered that Green-Beckham had not owned the marijuana. He was arrested for possessing marijuana in 2012, and as a result, he was suspended for the team’s match against Vanderbilt.
After finishing 12-2 the previous year, Missouri made its first appearance in the SEC title game since joining the conference. On January 3, the Tigers defeated Oklahoma State 41–31 in the Cotton Bowl.

Green-Beckham is out for good.Due to a breach of team rules, Missouri wide receiver Darryl Green-Beckham has been placed on indefinite leave from the program, the university said on Monday. This decision applies to all team activities and practices and takes effect immediately.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s the right thing to do for our football program, for the athletic department, and also for Dorial,” Gary Pinkel, the coach, said. “Representing Mizzou and our fans is a privilege, and we’ll work with him during the process.”
Since enrolling at Missouri, Green-Beckham has been involved in a number of off-field incidents; this suspension is the most recent. He was charged with possessing marijuana in October 2012 and was arrested three months prior on suspicion of drug activity.
“It’s been disappointing to have this and other issues which have taken place lately,” Pinkel stated. It’s annoying because we put a lot of effort into teaching our young men discipline and responsibility so that our program appropriately represents Mizzou. We are tackling these problems head-on, and these acts don’t live up to those expectations.”
With 59 catches for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore last fall, Green-Beckham led the team in receiving yards. He was on track to be one of the league’s best wide receivers this upcoming season after recording six receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns against Auburn in the SEC championship game.
When he signed with the Tigers, he was the No. 3 player in the country coming out of high school and had offers from almost all of the major programs.
