Texas Longhorns Tied to Benched Star QB as Possible Landing Spot…

In the 2023 Big 12 Championship Game, Texas standout quarterback Arch Manning plays as the Longhorns defeat State of Oklahoma
Texas, riding high in the fourth quarter, looked to its highly anticipated rookie to seal the victory.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning entered the game late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Longhorns against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday. In the final season of the Longhorns’ tenure as a Big 12 program, the former five-star quarterback recruit came off the bench to cap off Texas’ 49-21 victory and win the conference title for the first time since 2009.

With just over a minute remaining, Manning—who had entered the game in place of backup quarterback Maalik Murphy—passed the ball to running back Savin Red for a gain of four yards before kneeling to end the clock. Jonathan Brooks, a running back for Texas, suffered an ACL tear during the team’s victory over TCU. He was present for the championship game.

Manning made his second appearance of the year with this. In the 57-7 victory over Texas Tech in the regular-season finale, he made his Texas debut by rushing for seven yards and completing two of five passes for thirty yards.

Manning, a graduate of Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, signed a contract with the Longhorns in 2023. One of the highest-rated recruits in 247Sports history, Arch is the nephew of former NFL and SEC players Peyton and Eli Manning. He is rated as the No. 1 prospect in his class.
