Defense back for Georgia Julian Humphrey, who was leaning toward the transfer portal, announced on Twitter that he will be returning for another season at Georgia.

Georgia Bulldogs’ 2023 campaign is officially over after they defeated Florida State 63-3 in the Orange Bowl. Many people have been waiting for Georgia football players to make announcements about their futures in the NFL or in college. Daniel Harris and Julian Humphrey, two Bulldog defensive backs, have started the process by announcing on Twitter that they will be staying at Georgia.

It was assumed that Harris would use the transfer portal prior to the Orange Bowl. The week of the bowl game, head coach Kirby Smart then disclosed information, saying, “Just because a player has posted something about going into the portal, doesn’t mean they have.” To access the portal, there is a procedure that needs to be followed. Harris is not present there.

Regarding Humphrey, there were discussions that he might decide to use the portal, as is the case with many players at this time of year. However, based on his tweet—which Harris also posted following the bowl game—it appears that Humphrey will remain in Athens.

Humphrey played significant snaps as a cornerback during the season, which made him a vital member of the Bulldogs defense. Later in the season, he would sustain an injury that would keep him out of action, including for the Orange Bowl. The Bulldogs will be happy to have him back for another season at Georgia, though, as he flashed when his number was called.

Positive news for Georgia regarding personnel is on the horizon, according to a source close to the program, as important players have announced their addition and return to the program.

It would be extremely significant and reasonable to assume that Carson Beck would make an announcement announcing his return for a second season.

More pieces will fall into place once Beck declares his intention to return and makes Georgia an instant contender for the championship in 2024.

Most teams give Beck a second-day draft grade because they want to see a larger body of work, an NFL source told DawgNation.

Although Beck made his Orange Bowl debut announcement on Sunday, it was probably not going to be enough to move his draft ranking up to the first round after just one game.
