Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pascal “are in discussions over a trade..

The Pacers and Raptors “are in discussions over a trade that could see Bruce Brown and three first-round draft picks exchanged for Pascal Siakam.”

According to a report, trade talks between the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers are focused on two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the proposed trade would send Siakam from Toronto to Indiana in exchange for three first-round draft picks, shooting guard Bruce Brown, and additional salary.

Both parties have sent proposals, and they are said to be far along in the process, even though a deal hasn’t been finalized yet.

Siakam has also been heavily linked to a trade with the Sacramento Kings; however, it has been reported that negotiations with the Raptors have cooled off in recent weeks.

It had also been reported that the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks were considering taking a closer look at Siakam.

Given that he is in the last year of his contract and is currently making $38 million, Siakam has some negotiating power over where he is traded.

Negotiations presumably came to an end because, contrary to earlier reports, Siakam was not willing to sign a contract extension with the Kings after a possible agreement.

Known as “Spicy P,” the 29-year-old power forward has averaged 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game for the 15–25 Raptors thus far this season.

The struggling Raptors, who have looked like they are about to embark on a full-scale rebuild this season, have traded guards RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, along with a second-round pick that was originally owned by the Detroit Pistons, to the New York Knicks in exchange for small forward OG Anunoby, guard Malachi Flynn, and Precious Achiuwa.

If Indiana were to sign a player as strong as Siakam at the four position, it would give the 23-17 Pacers, who are led by outstanding point guard Tyrese Haliburton, a significant boost as they pursue the playoffs.

Prior to getting hurt when he slipped and fell into a split, Haliburton was having a breakout season. However, he is currently sidelined with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.

This season, the 23-year-old point guard for the Pacers has averaged 23.6 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

Pascal Siakam trade talks between the Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers included Bruce Brown and three first-round picks.

The Toronto Raptors’ star forward Pascal Siakam is the subject of trade negotiations between the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors, according to a report by Sam Amick and Shams Charania in The Athletic.

As per the report, Bruce Brown and three first-round picks would be included in the package that would be sent to the Raptors, and Siakam would attend Indiana. In order for this arrangement to be permitted by the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, more salary from the Pacers would need to be included.

Siakam and the Pacers have been associated frequently in recent months; there were even several reports about him during Summer League in July. Into the current season, those connections persisted.

On paper, Siakam looks fantastic with the blue and gold. The team would be much better with Tyrese Haliburton alongside another gifted shot maker. They hope to add more size and forward depth. Forward Siakam, a two-time All-NBA selection, is scoring 22.2 points per game on average this year.

Indiana needs size; they have already lost several times this season without it, most recently to the opposition. If Siakam were to be acquired, he would provide them both that and an offensive blow. At the most recent NBA G League Showcase, it was reported that the Pacers and Raptors discussed trades.

In the meantime, Brown inked a two-year, $45 million contract with Indiana in the 2023 offseason, with a team option. It’s a very tradeable deal, and Brown has performed better lately for the blue and gold after his injury recovery.

Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle stated last week, “I think Bruce prides himself on being a guy who is resourceful and can adjust to virtually any NBA situation.”

Right now, he has the biggest cap hit in Indiana. For the Pacers, Brown is averaging 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

“The Raptors have been engaged in discussions with several teams on a potential Siakam deal, but conversations with the Pacers have gained steam in recent days, those sources say,” the report begins. It includes

After this season, Siakam’s contract expires, and unless he signs a contract extension, he will become a free agent. Any team that signs Siakam runs that risk, including the Pacers, but if the reports about Indiana’s inclusion in a trade are accurate, it may indicate that the team is confident in its ability to hold onto the talented forward.

In addition to their own selections, the Pacers also have a few extras, including one more first-round pick. Which picks are included in a deal and what protections are attached to those picks are unknown at this time.

It’s conceivable that more would be traveling from Toronto to Indiana as a trade would require more pieces, even though it might only involve very little.

“While the two sides have been described as being far along in the process, according to those sources, they have yet to finalize or agree to a deal,” according to the report.
