During the season, Milroe proved to be one of college football’s most dangerous quarterbacks. After throwing two interceptions against Texas in Week 2, he was benched for Alabama’s Week 3 victory over South Florida. However, he eventually returned to the starting lineup the following week and never stopped.
Entering the Rose Bowl game against Michigan, the junior quarterback is 171-of-261 for 2,718 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions on the season. In addition, he has 12 touchdowns and 468 yards from rushes.
In the SEC title game, he scored two significant runs to secure Alabama’s victory over Georgia and advance them to the College Football Playoffs. That was one week after Alabama defeated Auburn and remained in the running for the national championship thanks to a miraculous touchdown pass from Milroe to Isaiah Bond on a fourth-down.
After a stellar final eight weeks of play, Milroe finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting, trailing only the eventual winner, Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Jordan Travis.
Following Alabama’s selection for the College Football Playoff, head coach Nick Saban said, “Jalen has done a fantastic job for us,” at a press conference. “There is no doubt that his development as a player and transition have been crucial to our team’s success.”
In the CFP semifinal, Alabama is a 1.5-point underdog against Michigan. Prior to the two semifinal matches, the Crimson Tide were the most favored team to win the national championship, trailing only the Wolverines.

Updates and results from tonight’s Strickland vs. Du Plessis fight
At UFC 297 on Saturday, Dricus Du Plessis defeated controversial American Sean Strickland to win the middleweight title. The victory came via split decision.
In one of the biggest upsets in UFC history, Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya to win the title in September, but his first defense was a failure.
Du Plessis came into the main event fresh off an unexpected TKO victory over former champion Robert Whittaker in July. While he was unable to duplicate that remarkable effort, the South African managed to prevail by just the narrowest of margins.
The judges’ scorecards showed that Du Plessis had won 48-47, 47-48, and 48-47 after five rounds, but the outcome could have easily gone the other way.
