Giovani Bernard, a veteran running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, declared his retirement on Twitter on Friday.
Bernard was a member of the Bengals for eight years, during which he amassed 33 touchdowns and 6,564 yards from scrimmage.
The 37th overall choice in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft was selected by the Bengals.
Bernard spent two years as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after joining them after leaving Cincinnati.

WR John Ross, a former Bengal, is making a comeback in the NFL.
John Ross, a former first-round selection of the Cincinnati Bengals, is prepared to make an NFL return.
The team moved Ross to that list because, for the (understandably) unaware, he played with the Kansas City Chiefs throughout the offseason and declared his retirement during training camp.
However, Ross wants to make a return, so the Chiefs waived him this week, allowing him to sign with other clubs.
The 28-year-old former ninth-overall choice of the Bengals, who is notorious for failing to click with Marvin Lewis’ team, is still young. During his most recent 2021 season, he caught 11 passes for 20 yards and one touchdown with the New York Giants.
Given the opportunity to acquire young rookies with potential, like as Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas, Cincinnati isn’t expected to be in the running for the pennant, but it’s intriguing to watch Ross’s recovery.
