Based on Sirianni’s vocal tone, that was evident. Sirianni won’t be the Eagles head coach for too long if he doesn’t perform in 2024.
“Does my vision have to be sold? No, since everything went according to plan,” Sirianni remarked. “You’d better believe, though, that following that 1-6 result, after we got off to the correct start and carried out the previous actions, I’m thinking I’m going to prove them wrong once more, and we will. We must hold ourselves accountable. We must go back and verify it.”
That’s my current state of mind. I’m going to approach this offseason that way. As we prepare for the new season, that’s how I’m going about it. I’m just eager to repay Mr. Lurie for his faith in me, Howie, the team, and the city.
The head coach is still in place, but there will be more significant changes coming among the coaches. even though his employment situation has changed from the previous year.
Roseman rightfully defended Sirianni by going to bat for him. Even with the collapse in the late season, Sirianni’s record is impressive.
“I’m not diminishing the 1-6 stretch at the end – [but] we were 26-5 over the last 31 games,” Roseman stated. “We played four times as many games as that throughout this period. In the National Football League, that is a difficult feat. It is difficult to locate a head coach with that kind of track record in this league.”
“I believe that with Nick, we were 33-11 at that point. We’ve qualified for the playoffs three times in a row. Once more, I’m not sitting here suggesting that finishing 1-6 is OK, but it is difficult to find someone who can handle those kinds of tasks.”
“I think as we go forward, doing this together in a way that continues to get the best possible people we can, on and off the field, for me, that’s my job to try to make sure that we have that on the field and my group is as strong as we possibly can get, and I know Nick is committed to that in his group.”
In Sirianni’s career, this upcoming season holds the most significance. Not a “lame-duck” year, but if the Eagles don’t turn things around, 2024 will feel like one.
Nevertheless, following their postseason wild-card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles held a press conference to wrap up the season after a nine-day delay. Roseman talked about the two snowstorms that occurred last week and the many hours spent doing in-depth farewell interviews with all of the coaches and players.
The Eagles did fire two coordinators and let Matt Patricia’s deal run out so he could go after other options. The one thing Roseman left out was Sirianni’s future with the Eagles brass.
