Sad news for Las Vagas Raiders: He will not return..

Raiders Have Choices If Josh Jacobs Doesn’t Come Back
Running back Josh Jacobs of the Las Vegas Raiders will once more be eligible to sign as a free agent this offseason. If Jacobs chooses to sign with another team, the Raiders still have options.

Josh Jacobs, the team’s star running back, will be a free agent this offseason, meaning the Las Vegas Raiders will once more be faced with a decision. Before ultimately agreeing to a one-year contract with the Raiders, Jacobs sat out the entire previous season in the hopes of securing a new, long-term deal.

Like the team, Jacobs would go on to have a season that was below average by his standards. Prior to missing the last four games due to an injury, Jacobs was among the top five rushers for the season. Playing in the fewest games in a season since his rookie year, Jacobs ended with the lowest yard total of his career.

The Raiders would have a lot of shoes to fill if Jacobs can find a team willing to pay him what he wants, but it might also free up cap space and playing time for other backfield players.

Zamir White will likely shoulder the majority of the workload for the Raiders in the upcoming season. If Ameer Abdullah also departs in free agency, Las Vegas may also add a seasoned running back to pair with White.Alternately, the Raiders could keep Abdullah and White together and select a high-caliber running back in the middle to late rounds.

The Raiders have been preparing to lose Antonio Pierce since they selected White in the fourth round, the same season Jacobs began a contract season. However, the announcement of Pierce as the team’s permanent head coach increases the likelihood that Jacobs will return to Las Vegas for the upcoming season.
