Bengals announce more roster changes and formally add a local quarterback to the practice squad.
On Monday, the Cincinnati Bengals made a number of roster changes public, one of which was the official addition of a local prep standout to the practice squad.

Drew Plitt, a Loveland native who was briefly with Cincinnati during the preseason, was formally added to the Bengals practice squad on Monday.

Plitt played in one preseason game during his brief stay with Cincinnati, against the Arizona Cardinals, and completed all six of his passing attempts for 76 yards and a score. However, he was cut before the season began.

The Bengals also declared that halfback Chase Brown, who has been out since October 28 due to a hamstring ailment, has been cleared to return off the Reserve/Injured list. In the fifth round of the draft held last year, Brown was chosen.

Due to a wrist injury, Cincinnati also placed rookie guard Jaxson Kirkland from the University of Washington on the Practice Squad/Injured list.

The Bengals had two quarterbacks when Joe Burrow’s wrist injury ended the season, and they made a move to add another on Monday.

Drew Plitt has been added to the practice squad, the team said. Plitt was a member of the team for the 2022 preseason, but he was cut that summer and hasn’t been on an NFL roster since.

Plitt did play for Arlington in the XFL during that league’s 2023 season. He was 63-of-100 for 668 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions.

For the Bengals, Jake Browning is expected to start, with AJ McCarron vying for the No. 2 spot.

The Bengals also declared that guard Jaxson Kirkland would be placed on practice squad injured reserve and that running back Chase Brown would return off injured reserve.

The Bucs first signed Sinnett as a collegiate free agent in 2020 after he graduated from the University of San Diego.

Despite Joe Burrow’s injury saving the Bengals from certain calamity, the team’s shortage of a quarterback during training camp means that two arms are insufficient for the amount of reps the offense needs to get.
