Contract Termination: The South Carolina End Contract With Their Unwanted QB..

Following South Carolina’s defeat by North Carolina, Shane Beamer offers an absurd justification.

The South Carolina Gamecocks’ season didn’t start well in Charlotte on Saturday night, but they still hope to be a force in the SEC East this year.

In a neutral site game held at Bank of America Stadium (home of the Carolina Panthers), South Carolina fell short 31–17 against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

In his post-game press conference, Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer provided numerous justifications for the defeat, citing injuries as one of the challenges South Carolina faced. However, he also took some of the blame for the outcome.

Beamer offered a number of strange justifications, one of which concerned the chain workers.

Because some of the chain workers weren’t prepared for the restart of play, the second half started a little later than expected.

Beamer voiced his dissatisfaction with the chain crew following the game.

Beamer claimed, “It’s kind of the story of the night,” and lamented the lack of a post-game stat report. “The entire game, the clock was off. We have to wait for the chain crew since they are eating a hot dog as we attempt an onside kick to start the second half. That’s the one thing that makes tonight frustrating.”

After failing to convert on a fourth down, South Carolina actually recovered the onside kick and went four-and-out.

Though it’s obvious that the chain crew had no bearing on South Carolina’s game plan, Beamer continued to highlight their hot dog break, or whatever they were doing, as the “only disappointing” aspect of Saturday night’s action (remember, SC lost 31-17).

Shane Beamer threw some shade at assistant coach that left South Carolina for Georgia after less than 2 months in Columbia -

The Gamecocks’ negative two running yard total was ultimately the cause of their Saturday night loss in Charlotte.

Last season, South Carolina faced some challenges before eventually finding their stride and defeating two formidable opponents in Tennessee and Clemson. To claim that the 2023 season will be difficult for the Gamecocks is simply premature.

However, that is evidently not the beginning that South Carolina had hoped for. And before the grind of the SEC season begins, they undoubtedly have some work to do.
