Jack Silvagni received devastating news, and Carlton was shaken by a depressing preseason event.

Jack Silvagni, a fan favorite at Carlton, is expected to miss the 2024 campaign due to an ACL injury sustained during a training session this week. Before appearing to have a major knee injury on Thursday, Silvagni was taking part in a simulation of an AFL game.

After the forward was sent for scans, it became clear that surgery was required. The 26-year-old Silvagni’s departure from Carlton football has upset Brad Lloyd, who will likely miss the entire 2024 season.

“Jack had put in such a significant body of work over summer to put himself in a great position to attack the year, so we are all really feeling for Jack right now,” Lloyd, the Carlton football manager, said. “Although Jack is currently feeling disappointed, it is well known that he has an unbreakable work ethic and loyalty to the football club, and that his strong character will be his greatest asset as he recovers.

“The entire Carlton fans will undoubtedly be with him during his rehabilitation, as will we. He will continue to have a great influence on the team and the playing group throughout this season because of the energy he brings.”

Silvagni had only recently agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Blues, so the setback was a significant blow to the organization. After a knee injury ended his 2023 season, the 26-year-old was hoping to repeat as one of the team’s top 23 players.

The forward was not included in the team’s historic run to the AFL finals. Silvagni’s supporters were crushed by his latest failure.

“Doesn’t want to feel like Carlton is beating him”: The reason for the agreement delay is Great’s rift with his former team.

The depressing tale of Blues star Stephen Silvagni’s falling out with the Carlton Football Club seems to have taken a new turn.

While serving as list manager for Carlton in 2019, Silvagni, who had 321 games played at a club his father and two sons had all represented, fell out badly with the team.

According to Tom Morris, Silvagni’s involvement—he is now in head of the St Kilda list—is the sticking point in a possible four-team transaction that involves Carlton.

The long-discussed transaction would involve the exchange of draft picks in addition to Nick Coffield and Paddy Dow.

The intricate arrangement might come to fruition on Tuesday; nonetheless, Morris outlined the situation on SEN Mornings.

“The Bulldogs and the people at St Kilda are really optimistic that it will happen today,” Morris stated.

Nick Coffield will play for the Dogs, and Paddy Dow for the Saints.

The Saints receive pick 40 in exchange for Coffield, and I believe the Dogs will ultimately receive one or two selections back.

“Carlton is demanding a future third-round pick for Dow, even if doing so requires the Blues to forfeit a future fourth-round pick. As long as they receive the future third, they are content to do that.

St Kilda is refusing. They claim that he is only worth a fourth in the future.

“Essendon is involved; they have been working closely with St Kilda for a while, and their involvement will simply comprise making different picks.

“With this trade, they will strengthen their draft hand.”

The main source of contention is Silvagni, who has remained at odds with the Blues even after leaving in an official position four years ago.

When Silvagni’s son Jack played his 100th game for the team earlier this year, Carlton invited him to his quarters, but Silvagni declined.

Morris stated, “The deal would have been done in 30 seconds if St Kilda had offered a future third for Dow.”

“Carlton suggested that we give you a future third in exchange for a future fourth when they offered Carlton a future fourth, but St Kilda declined.
