Sad news for Pittsburgh Steelers: He is gone…

Diontae Johnson Bids the Steelers Farewell
The wide receiver from the Pittsburgh Steelers bids farewell to his first NFL residence.

With the trade of cornerback Donte Jackson for Diontae Johnson, the Pittsburgh Steelers bid farewell to their seasoned wide receiver.

Given that Johnson was nearing the conclusion of his contract and that a roster bonus was due at the end of the week, the move was fairly anticipated. The former third-round selection bid farewell to the city where he was drafted and is now officially moving elsewhere.

“Pittsburgh has truly delivered! Johnson posted on Instagram, “5 years ago you took me in and treated me like family from day one.” “I will always be appreciative of the connections I have established and the moments I will always treasure. Thank you for enabling me to develop into the man I am today, teammates, coaches, staff, and supporters who stood by me through the good times and the bad. 1/8 out of 8.

With the Steelers for five years, Johnson caught 391 passes for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was selected for one Pro Bowl and developed into an accomplished player-mentor for guys such as Calvin Austin.

He will now be considered a top option for second-year quarterback Bryce Young of the Panthers.

Steelers' Diontae Johnson Sends Cryptic Message

According to a source with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, Russell passed away Thursday night. The Steelers were “saddened by the news of Andy Russell’s passing. He was one of the few players that Coach Chuck Noll kept on the team after he became our head coach in 1969,” according to a letter from team president Art Rooney II.

Rooney sent his sympathy to Russell’s family, who is still alive.
