Heartbreaking news: Anthony Seibold says goodbye to Manly Sea Eagles

Seibold discusses Schuster’s predicament, saying that the star should “figure out what he wants to do next.”

Josh Schuster’s performances, according to Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold, were the driving force behind the decision to give him two weeks of personal leave. However, Seibold expects the two weeks off would be beneficial for Schuster’s well-being, as the club has informed him that he is free to pursue other opportunities.

The 22-year-old Schuster agreed to an agreement last season that was reportedly paid $800,000 a year, but he hasn’t participated in an NRL game in 2024 due to preseason injuries and subpar performance in the first few rounds.

Despite having amazing skill that we’ve seen on and off over his brief career, he’s been stuck in reserve grade and hasn’t done enough to work his way back into the NRL.

Earlier in the week, the back-rower was advised to take a break from the game; upon his return, Manly’s future will probably already be determined.

“My primary responsibility is to ensure Josh’s well-being and welfare,” Seibold declared in Auckland prior to the Warriors match.

Josh now has the chance to take a brief break and consider his options for the future. We’ll take care of business during his current two-week leave of absence.

“After Josh catches his breath and seizes an opportunity elsewhere, we’ll decide where to go from there,”

“Performance will ultimately determine the decision, but Josh is someone I care about.” All I can think of is that Josh has another chance to start again and go on.

“He has the chance to take a break and rest for the next two weeks. We’ll take care of things behind the scenes to ensure that everyone is happy.

Reuben Garrick will not play this weekend in the centers due to the NRL’s concussion procedures; instead, Ben Trbojevic, the guy who has taken his place on the left edge, will start.

Trbojevic has seen this before, as seen by Corey Waddell’s dominant performance on the left edge during last week’s unexpected victory against Penrith.

It’s a shift. Thankfully, we had to practice last week, so we’ve had some experience,” Seibold remarked.

Sadly, neither Reuben nor (Jason) Saab are present. Ben’s work will be excellent. He is accustomed to playing center, having made his debut in that role. Last week, he played 77 minutes there.

“Corey Waddell starts as a second-rower, and Ben starts there as we wanted to honor the guys who did the job last week.”
