With a heavy heart, Dakereon Joyner leaves South Carolina and enters the NFL Draft.

Former South Carolina football player Dakereon Joyner stated on X (previously known as Twitter) on Wednesday that he was leaving Gamecock Nation and entering the 2024 NFL Draft.Joyner began his declaration by thanking God and then the coaches and supporters of USC.

Joyner’s statement said, “Thank you all for the tremendous amount of love I received throughout these years.” “I sincerely appreciate your unconditional love and support, which is unlike anything else I’ve experienced.”

After South Carolina’s 16-7 loss to Clemson at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday night, Joyner’s six years with the Gamecocks football team came to an end. Away from the field, he became a father to his 9-month-old daughter Kahlani and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport and entertainment administration.

In coach Shane Beamer’s first season, he started at quarterback in 2021 after playing in 12 games as a receiver and helped lead USC to a 38-21 victory over North Carolina in the Duke Mayo Bowl. Over the course of the season, Joyner has played three distinct positions: running back, receiver, and quarterback.
