Chiefs WR Marquise Brown to undergo surgery, to miss ‘months’

Missouri’s Kansas City Coach Andy Reid has stated that wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown of the Chiefs may miss the rest of the season due to a sternoclavicular ailment, for which Brown is slated for surgery.

On Friday, Reid stated, “It’s not going to be weeks,” when referring to when Brown might return. More like several months.

As each person is unique and there aren’t many studies on this kind of injury, we’ll just have to wait and see how long it takes. We’ll follow that through to the end of this procedure. However, it is the knowledge we currently possess, therefore we will simply need to cling to it.”

The Chiefs’ vice president of sports health and performance, Rick Burkholder, announced that Brown, whose condition affects one of his shoulder joints, would undergo surgery on Monday in Vail, Colorado. By putting Brown on injured reserve, the Chiefs are ensuring he will miss the minimum of the upcoming four games.

“Disappointed, frustrated, and Sad was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because Of my Faith in God,” Brown posted to X. “Aware that this too shall pass, regardless of the fantastic opportunity I stood before me. That wasn’t God’s intended route for me, but it’s not over, and I’m okay with that now.”
