Penrith Panthers Qb Suspended Due…

‘Sick and tired of hearing that’: Question that prompted curt reply from Tedesco

Sydney, September 16, 2024 – In the wake of a disappointing 30-10 defeat to the Penrith Panthers in the opening round of the NRL finals, James Tedesco has delivered a resolute defense of the Sydney Roosters’ future prospects. The team captain rejected claims that the looming exits of several key players would render 2024 a pivotal year for the Roosters, instead expressing unwavering confidence in his squad’s ability to remain competitive.

Addressing the media three days after the loss, Tedesco downplayed concerns surrounding the long-term injuries of Sam Walker and Brandon Smith, emphasizing the team’s resilience and depth. “We’ve got a talented group here, and despite the challenges we’ve faced, including injuries and impending departures, we firmly believe in our capacity to contend for the premiership,” Tedesco stated.

The Roosters’ immediate focus is on their must-win clash against the Manly Sea Eagles scheduled for Saturday. With their finals hopes hanging in the balance, Tedesco highlighted the importance of the upcoming match but remained optimistic about the team’s performance. “We’re taking it one game at a time. Our goal is to advance in the finals, and we’re prepared to fight for every opportunity,” he added.

Looking beyond the current season, Tedesco acknowledged the anticipated changes in the roster with veteran players such as Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Joey Manu, Luke Keary, and Joseph Suaalii expected to depart by 2025. However, he remains confident that the Roosters’ foundation is strong enough to sustain success. “We have a plan in place for the future. The club has always been about building and evolving, and we’re confident that the next few years will be just as promising as the present.”

As the Roosters prepare for their crucial encounter with Manly, Tedesco’s message is clear: the team remains focused on the task at hand while also keeping an eye on a bright future. The coming weeks will test their resolve and adaptability, but with Tedesco leading the charge, the Roosters’ ambition to stay at the top of the NRL remains undiminished.
